A Sweet cake smash

This past weekend I was lucky to do another cake smash session. This was my first session with a little girl and we had so much fun with her. She was very dainty and didn't like getting her hands dirty. But, she sacrificed a bit to enjoy that yummy frosting on the cupcakes her mommy brought.

All of these pictures were taken with my 50 mm lens. It was a pretty cloudy day so I shot at ISO 800 my aperture was set at 4.0 and I had a shutter speed of 1/250sec. I shot it like this because I knew I could go into my Adobe Photoshop Lightroom program after and make any lighting touch ups I needed to. If you don't have Lightroom or another photo editor I would suggest shooting at a much lower ISO.

When shooting kids or any moving object I highly recommend shooting no lower that 1/150 sec. I like to stay around the 1/200sec range. That way I can capture every single movement without blur.

I was really happy with how this cake smash turned out! I was worried about my blue wall but I actually think it works with this shoot.

By the way, I need to find a place to hang that bunting banner in my house. One day, if I ever get my girl, I will hang it in her room! It was so easy to make too. I just folded 8" doilies in half and glued them to the pink ribbon. I added a little pom pom ribbon to one of them as well. So cute and so easy to do!

Thanks again Momma for letting me capture your sweet girls cake smash! Baby J was so much fun!
